A Refrigerated Truck operates using an integrated cooling unit that maintains a constant low temperature inside the cargo area. The process begins when the compressor, powered by the truck’s engine or an independent generator, compresses refrigerant gas and circulates it through the condenser. This releases heat and converts the gas into a high-pressure liquid.
Evaporation and Heat Absorption
The liquid refrigerant then travels to the evaporator coil inside the insulated truck compartment. As it evaporates, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air, lowering the internal temperature. The cooled air is circulated evenly across the cargo space using high-speed fans to ensure every section maintains uniform cooling.
Temperature Control Mechanism
A thermostat or digital control panel continuously monitors the temperature. The driver or operator can set a specific range depending on the type of goods — for example, frozen meat may require -18°C, while dairy products need around +4°C. The system automatically adjusts the compressor cycles to maintain the chosen temperature throughout the journey.
Insulated Structure
The truck body is built with high-density polyurethane insulation panels that minimize external heat transfer. This ensures energy efficiency and prevents temperature fluctuations even during long hauls or hot weather conditions. The doors are sealed tightly to stop cold air leakage.
Power and Fuel Management
The refrigeration unit can draw power from the vehicle’s main engine or from a separate diesel-powered generator, depending on the truck model. This dual setup allows continuous cooling, even when the engine is turned off during loading or unloading operations.
Application and Use
Refrigerated trucks are essential for transporting perishable goods, dairy products, frozen foods, pharmaceuticals, and fresh produce. They help preserve product quality and safety until the final delivery point.
